The transition into motherhood and then into working mum life is hard. Going from having a crystal clear vision about your future career - to stumbling into meetings so tired that you can’t introduce yourself without stumbling over YOUR OWN NAME!
It’s the biggest transition since adolescence … without all of the peer support and shared experiences.
Here are some beliefs, facts and tips that are in my recipe for INSIDE Confidence for working mum life
1. This the first time you’ve ever been this version of you. Spend some time getting to know your new priorities, values and strengths
2. You’ve been given new superpowers!
Mums understand body language, connection, communication and what is unsaid at a level of expertise. Your brain has also got you hyper focused to spot threats. Trust your instincts and share your ideas 💡
3. Even TIME poor mums run out of energy before we run out of time. Learn what gives you energy, figure out what (who) drains it and learn how to protect it.
4. You can’t be the one who works the longest (and not just because nursery will fine you) - but can be super efficient when you FOCUS. Make time to focus part of your daily plan.
5. Show yourself compassion. You don’t expect anyone else to be perfect, so allow yourself to be perfectly imperfect too
6. Having a NETWORK changes the game. Even though you never get to pee in peace at home, mum life can be really lonely without the right people around you.
7. The more I look for joy, love and success the more I find.
We naturally focus on the negative - so be INTENTIONAL about finding the good stuff every single day. Keep a record of it. Some day you will need to look back and realise just how far you have come!
